Forests Prevent Devastating Floods, Protect Slopes from Runoff Damage
Research on forest and slope-runoff has made significant progress, especially in China. Observation experiments are widely used, along with runoff plot experiments. Forests impact slope-runoff yield in various ways, affecting flow patterns, yield amounts, rainfall critical values, and the division between surface and underground runoff. Litters also play a role in slope-runoff yield. Additionally, slope-runoff models have been applied in forest hydrology.
