Sandy beaches in Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, and Shandong have been eroding rapidly. To combat this, hard structures like breakwaters were initially used but caused more erosion downstream. Recently, beach nourishment projects have been successful in stabilizing and widening beaches. By the end of 2012, 13 nourishment projects were completed or ongoing, including sandy, muddy, and rocky beach nourishment, with positive results. These projects can help boost coastal tourism and provide valuable design insights.
