Complex systems can be described from either a small or big picture perspective. The relationship between these two views is explored in the paper. It is found that a certain functional relationship between different big picture variables can be determined. Microscopic details cannot be directly applied to the big picture, so results must be checked using big picture variables. It is important to rethink big picture relationships through data analysis.
