Flood control works on Longchuan River raise flood levels downstream.
The study looked at how flood control works on the Longchuan River affect the river bed. By using a mathematical model, the researchers found that building levees will cause some sediment to build up in the river, raising flood levels slightly but not affecting the river's ability to handle water flow. Downstream of the reservoir, the river bed will experience erosion and changes, but the safety of the river banks will not be at risk.
