New method accurately evaluates coalbed gas content, revolutionizing energy industry.
Coalbed methane, a valuable energy source, is stored in coal seams. Traditional methods can't accurately evaluate gas content in coalbeds. This study used density log data to determine coal ash, fixed carbon content, and pore pressure, which are related to gas content. By combining these parameters with core-measured gas content, researchers established an equation to evaluate gas content in coalbeds. Comparing the evaluated gas content with core-measured data showed high accuracy, demonstrating the effectiveness of this method.
