Shading Tomatoes at Right Time Boosts Yield and Nutrition
Shading tomato plants at the late flowering stage can increase nitrogen content and improve plant nutrition. Moderate shading (40%) at this stage can lead to higher nitrogen levels in leaves, stems, and stubble, resulting in better fruit yield. This study found that shading had no effect on nitrogen levels in leaves at early and peak flowering stages, but was beneficial at the late flowering stage. So, shading tomatoes during midday with 40% shade can help them grow better and produce more fruit.
