Optimum plant combination in wetlands boosts winter wastewater treatment efficiency.
The study compared different plants in constructed wetlands to treat sanitary wastewater in winter. The research found that in winter, the plants were effective in removing pollutants like COD, BOD5, TP, and coliform, but less so for TN. The first stage mainly removed COD and BOD5, while the third stage mainly removed TP and TN. The best plant combination for optimal treatment was Canna generalis, Thalia dealbata, and Acorus calamus Linn in the three stages.
