Tidal forces in Yangtze River Estuary reshape sediment movement patterns.
The study looked at how sediment moves in the Yangtze River Estuary using data on flow velocity and sediment concentration. They found that tides cause sediment to be stirred up, and changes in sediment concentration follow changes in flow velocity. The highest sediment concentration occurs after the peak flow velocity. Sediment in the estuary moves in three different ways, and the relationship between tidal and sediment discharge was also examined.
