This article analyzes and studies the design of simply-supported steel plate girder highway bridges in China. The researchers looked at the arrangement of girder cross sections, types of cross sections, and optimal girder depth and span length. They developed formulas for calculating bending moments due to dead load and traffic load, and determined the most cost-effective girder depth and deflection control methods.
