Midday sun exposure damages tea plant leaves, but recovery is possible.
Tea plant leaves can get damaged by too much sunlight, causing a decrease in photosynthesis. This is called photoinhibition. The study found that high light intensity can lead to photoinhibition in tea plants, but it is reversible when the plants are exposed to weaker light for a few hours. Different varieties and ages of tea plant leaves may be affected differently by photoinhibition.
