Putuo Region Holds Great Wind Energy Potential for Sustainable Development
The Putuo region has great wind energy potential, making it suitable for wind energy development. Wind speeds range from 3.9 to 6.7 m/s on average, increasing from west to east. There are between 5,568 and 7,708 hours of strong winds (3 m/s or more) annually, and between 2,206 and 4,699 hours of very strong winds (6 m/s or more). The best wind energy area has a mean wind energy density of 298.5 W/m². Wind energy generally increases with height, but remains consistent between 50 and 70 meters. Analysis of wind direction and frequency in this area can greatly enhance wind energy utilization.
