The Buyuan River Basin was studied to understand its water and sediment characteristics. Data from 1960 to 2008 showed that water and sediment levels vary throughout the year and from year to year. Both runoff and sediment discharge are decreasing over time. The amount of water and sediment in the river are closely related, with higher levels of one corresponding to higher levels of the other.
