Rape straw boosts swine manure composting for better agricultural yields.
In this experiment, researchers studied how adding different amounts of rape straw to swine manure can improve composting. They wanted to see how adjusting the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, temperature, germination index, total nitrogen, organic matter, and pH levels affected the quality of the compost. The best results were seen when the ratio of fresh swine manure to rape straw was 6.5:1 and the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio was 22.72. All the indicators of compost maturity reached optimal levels under these conditions.
