The WEPP model was used to study soil erosion in Sichuan hilly basin. Six cultivated slope lands and fifteen bare slope lands were analyzed. The model accurately simulated soil erosion for both single storms and annual erosion in 2004 and 2005. The study found that the WEPP model is better suited for long-term soil erosion simulation. It also showed that the model can predict spatial variation in erosion, with different parts of the erosion area responding differently to rainfall and slope length.
