Filtering Chaotic Signals Can Distort Fractal Dimension Measurements, Study Finds.
Filtering chaotic signals can affect the fractal dimension, leading to inaccurate results. By analyzing Lyapunov exponents and Kaplan-Yorke dimension, researchers found that strong filtering can increase the fractal dimension. However, using an LTI filter does not change the fractal dimension. These findings help in accurately determining the dimension of chaotic data.
