Rural-urban income gap widening due to wage and transfer income disparities.
The study looked at income inequality between rural and urban areas in Zhejiang Province. They used a method called GE region decomposition to analyze income inequality in different regions. The researchers found that total income inequality and rural-urban income inequality have been increasing since the 1990s. They also discovered that wage income increases rural-urban income inequality, while family management income decreases it. Transfer income and property income also play a role in increasing rural-urban income inequality.
