Toxic Lake Threatens Millions as Pollution Chokes Taihu
This study looked at the water quality and pollution in Taihu Lake over ten years. They used data from 1997 to 2006 to understand how the lake's water quality and pollution levels changed. The researchers found that the lake was mainly polluted by organic matter, which made the water quality worse as the lake became more eutrophic. This means that there was a lot of nutrients in the water, leading to excessive plant growth, which can harm the lake ecosystem. To make the water cleaner in Taihu Lake, significant efforts are needed to control pollution.
