Urban Expansion in Beijing Driven by Population Growth and Economic Development.
The researchers studied how different factors like population growth, economic development, and natural conditions affect land use changes in Changping district, Beijing from 1996 to 2004. They found that population increase, economic growth, and government policies have a big impact on whether land is used for farming or construction. Factors like distance from rivers and altitude also play a role in land use changes. The study showed that as the population grows and the economy develops, more land is converted from farming to construction, while policies to change agriculture structures can lead to different types of land use.
