Tidal currents in Qinzhou Bay reach record-breaking speeds, impacting marine navigation.
Researchers used a computer model to study tidal currents in Qinzhou Bay. They found that the currents rotate at the bay's mouth and flow straight in nearshore areas. The strongest currents reach 200 cm/s near Longmen Harbor. The shape of the bay's bottom affects current direction. The West Channel and western Middle Channel are main outlets, while the East Channel and eastern Middle Channel are main inlets.
