New herbage varieties thrive in Guizhou, boosting forage and hay yields.
Researchers introduced 15 new types of grass and legume plants to Guizhou province for testing. They compared them to local varieties and found that all plants grew well and survived different seasons. The plants could be harvested multiple times a year, with fresh yields ranging from 36,558.2 to 66,450.0 kg per hectare, and hay yields from 10,771.0 to 19,869.0 kg per hectare. The best-performing varieties were Totter and Alice for grass, and C6151 and Sustain for legumes.
