Climate change accelerates soil warming and alters moisture patterns in Tibet
Soil temperature and moisture were studied in the Northern Tibetan Plateau. The temperature above 10 cm depth follows a yearly cycle, with peak warmth in July and August. Deeper soil layers warm up later than shallower ones. Soil cools slowly but warms quickly in spring and summer due to snow cover and other factors. Changes in climate can be seen at least 40 cm deep. Soil moisture depends on summer rainfall, with monthly variations more noticeable than daily ones.
