Land desertification in the Daan region of the Songnen Plain is a serious issue. Using satellite images and GIS technology, researchers found that desertification land has been increasing, mainly due to human activities like road construction and land reclamation. By 2050, desertification land is expected to cover 42.30% of the region. Climate and hydrological factors, combined with human actions, are driving this process. Grasslands and water bodies are also at risk of degradation.
