Hot pepper plant extract inhibits seed germination, impacting crop production.
The study looked at how extracts from different parts of hot pepper plants affect the germination of hot pepper seeds. The results showed that these extracts can actually inhibit seed germination, with stronger effects at higher concentrations. The order of autotoxicity, or self-toxicity, was found to be leaf > root > stem > whole plant. This means that the extracts from hot pepper plants can harm the growth of new hot pepper plants.
