Yudaisha Beach Facing Severe Erosion Threat Due to Climate Change.
Yudaisha Beach in Bo'ao, Hainan Island has been experiencing landward erosion due to sea level rise and reduced sediment load from the Wanquan River. Using remote sensing and GPS technologies, researchers found that the beach lost an average of 70m (4.1m per year) and decreased in area by 35% from 1988 to 2005. This erosion is a result of climate change and human activities, making Yudaisha Beach vulnerable and in need of attention.
