Larix kaempferi trees in Xiaolongshan Forest impact water distribution significantly.
The study looked at how a type of tree in Xiaolong Mountain forest catches rain. They found that the tree's canopy caught about 17% of the rain, while the rest fell through the branches or ran down the trunk. More rain meant more water falling through and down the tree. Heavy rain made less water get caught by the tree. The tree only let water through when it rained at least a little bit.
