Desertification in China Expands, Threatening Nearly Half of Total Land.
The researchers revised the potential extent of desertification in China by using climate data and biogeographical features. They found that desertification occurs in extremely arid, arid, semi-arid, and sub-humid areas. The revised potential extent of desertification in China is about 47.1% of the total terrestrial area, with different regions experiencing varying levels of desertification. The total potential extent of desertification increased after revision, with some areas decreasing while others increased.
