A new soil moisture sensor was tested in the lab to quickly measure how much water is in the soil. The sensor uses a standing-wave principle and showed that different probe shapes can affect the results. The type of soil doesn't change the accuracy of the sensor, which works well for most soil types. The sensor is reliable, accurate, and can measure soil moisture effectively.
