Estuary Wetlands of Minjiang River Face Rapid Decline and Environmental Danger
The Minjiang River estuary wetlands in Fujian province have diverse landscapes that are at risk due to human activities. Using satellite images from 1986 and 2002, researchers studied changes in the wetlands' patterns. They found that the area of wetlands has decreased, their functions have worsened, and the environment is in danger. The study used Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System to analyze the landscape patterns and their dynamics. The wetlands are crucial but fragile ecosystems that need protection from further degradation.
