Industrial economy in Jiangsu converging, but gaps persist despite development.
The article examines differences and convergence in the industrial economy of Jiangsu province. By analyzing data from 1980 to 2007, the researchers found that there is convergence in the economy over time, but the speed of convergence is slowing down. The industrial differences among regions fluctuate but generally increase over time. Southern Jiangsu has the highest industrial difference, while northern Jiangsu has the lowest. Developed areas show faster convergence than less developed regions. The differences and convergence in the industrial economy are influenced by changes in industrial structure, fixed assets, talent, technology, and transportation. Despite decreasing differences and some convergence, industrial disparities will persist for a long time.
