Membrane fouling in membrane bioreactors is a big problem. The way we run the MBR, like how long we keep the water in it, how much air we put in, and how fast we push the water through the membrane, affects how much fouling happens. Many studies show that these operating parameters really do make a difference in how dirty the membrane gets.
