Aquatic ecosystems are complex and easily disrupted by various factors. Scientists have classified these ecosystems into four scales based on size, from micro to macro. They have also identified corresponding temporal and spatial scales for each. By understanding these scales, we can better manage and restore aquatic ecosystems.
