Drought-resistant wheat varieties show higher photosynthesis rates, promising future food security.
The study compared different types of wheat to see how well they could handle drought conditions. They found that some varieties had higher photosynthesis rates during flowering, which helped them resist drought better. Jinmai 33 and Henong 859 were the best at this, while Changle 5 and Wenmai 6 struggled more with drought. The researchers discovered that the wheat varieties had different ways of dealing with drought, which affected their ability to survive in dry conditions.
