Phosphorus pollution threatens Changtan Reservoir, impacting water quality and ecosystems.
The researchers studied phosphorus pollution in the sediments of Changtan Reservoir. They found that the sediments were in good condition, especially in the middle and lower areas during summer. The phosphorus content was higher in the middle reaches and lower in the upper and lower reaches. The main sources of phosphorus pollution were from settling overlying water. Fe / Al-bound phosphorus was the most common form of phosphorus in the sediments, which is available for algae in the water.
