Double peak structure of tropical cyclones in North Indian Ocean explained.
Tropical cyclones in the North Indian Ocean have a double peak pattern due to factors like the position of the flow field, seasonal changes in the Intertropical Convergence Zone, and the South Asia High. High sea surface temperatures and weak vertical wind shear increase cyclone frequency, while strong wind shear during the Monsoon reduces cyclone formation. The study analyzed data from 1977 to 2008 to understand how these factors influence the occurrence of tropical cyclones in the region.
