Desertification Threatens Agriculture in Gansu Province, Urgent Action Needed
The northeast part of Gansu Province has a significant amount of desert land, covering almost 39% of the total area. The expansion of the sand line is a major concern, with natural factors like arid climate and wind erosion contributing to soil desertification. To combat this issue, strategies like planting grass and shrubs, creating ecological systems, and restoring farmland to forests are recommended. These measures aim to control sand movement, prevent further desertification, and promote sustainable economic development in desert regions.
