Water and sediment in the Yellow River need to be balanced for better control of sedimentation. By using reservoirs, artificial intervention, and water diversion, the Yellow River can manage sediment effectively. Tests and operation schedules from 2002 to 2007 showed significant benefits in controlling sediment and improving social and economic outcomes.
