Nitrogen fertilizer type affects how potatoes grow. Ammonium nitrogen helps potatoes grow more dry matter. Nitrogen treatments increase potato tuber dry matter by 50.37% to 71.38%. Nitrogen content in plant organs decreases over time, with stems and leaves decreasing the most. Leaves and shoots reduce more than roots in the early growth stage. Nitrogen helps stems store nitrogen early on and transfer it to leaves and tubers later. Nitrogen treatments increase potato yield by 19.28% to 63.86%, with ammonium nitrogen having the biggest impact and highest yield at 39,410.2 kg·hm-2.
