The researchers studied the types and amounts of tiny plant-like organisms in Dongping Lake in 2006 and 2007. They found 142 different species of these organisms, with most belonging to a group called Chlorophyta. The density of these organisms ranged from very low to quite high, and their community structure was stable in the lake.
