A study looked at how the timing of sowing affects seedling growth, development, transplanting quality, and yield. The best time to sow rice for mechanical transplanting in this area is between April 10-15, with seedlings about 42 days old. Delaying sowing can improve transplanting quality and tiller percentage, but it also leads to slower population growth, lower quality panicles, and reduced yield. If sowing is delayed by 15 days, the yield could drop by more than 10%.
