Rainfall study reveals impact of soil properties on erosion rates in China.
Raindrops can cause soil erosion, especially in certain regions of China. Different types of soil have varying levels of susceptibility to splash erosion. Black soil is least affected due to its strong structure, while loess soil from Dongsheng City is most vulnerable because of its high sand content. Other loess, red, and purple soils fall in between. Soil crust forms in most soils during rainfall, affecting the rate of splash erosion over time. Soil properties like aggregate content and stability play a significant role in determining the amount of splash erosion.
