Soil erosion linked to decline in soil health and microbial diversity.
Soil erosion in the Loess Plateau affects soil nutrients and microorganisms. A study used the 137Cs tracer method to investigate this in hilly areas. Different vegetation patterns showed varying erosion levels. Soil organic carbon and nitrogen increased with erosion, while electrical conductivity decreased. Soil microbial diversity decreased with erosion, but bacterial biomass initially decreased then increased. Soil erosion impacts soil properties and microorganisms in the Loess Plateau.
