Drought-stricken cities can recycle water, reduce consumption, and protect water sources.
An approach to planning water resources was developed to predict and manage water supply and demand while protecting water resources. Instead of just increasing water supply, the focus is on controlling water demand through efficiency measures and adjusting industrial and agricultural practices. The use of reclaimed water resources is emphasized to enhance water supply. The protection of surface and ground water is crucial, along with managing drinking water sources, water systems, and wastewater treatment. This approach was successfully applied in regional water planning in the Shunyi District of Beijing.
