Guangdong's forests could capture 519 million tons of carbon by 2057
In Guangdong, forests can help fight climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide. Researchers used data to find the best ways to manage non-forest land and estimated the potential for forests to soak up carbon. Eucalyptus trees were the best at capturing carbon. By 2057, the forests could store 692.1 million tons of carbon, a big increase from 2008. New forests will take up 176.6 million tons, while existing ones will absorb 342.8 million tons. This shows that forests in Guangdong have a strong ability to capture carbon and help the environment.
