Land desertification worsens in Damao Banner, threatening local agriculture and livelihoods.
The study used satellite images and field surveys to track land desertification in Damao Banner from 1990 to 2008. The total desertification area remained stable, but the severity of desertification increased over time. Wind erosion was the main cause, affecting 92.66% of the desertified land. Human activities accelerated the process, leading to decreased land productivity and hindering local agriculture and animal husbandry. The study suggests implementing measures to control desertification and restore degraded land ecology.
