Arable land shrinking as Tangshan City's economy booms, raising concerns.
The study analyzed the relationship between arable land area changes and economic growth in Tangshan City from 1978 to 2007. The researchers found that as the city's economy grew rapidly, the amount of arable land decreased gradually. There was a consistent decrease in arable land area as per capita GDP increased. The findings suggest the need for continuous management of arable land resources, especially in controlling construction activities on arable land.
