New technology revolutionizes accurate measurement of water use in agriculture.
The study compared two instruments, Large Aperture Scintillometer (LAS) and Eddy Covariance (EC), for measuring evapotranspiration in farmlands. LAS was found to be reliable and consistent with EC in measuring heat flux and evapotranspiration. Daily and monthly changes in heat flux measurements showed significant agreement between LAS and EC. LAS data can be used to verify estimated evapotranspiration from remote sensing methods.
