Innovative Construction Techniques Revolutionize Main Bridge Design on Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway
The main goal of the study was to construct the main bridge of Rongjiang River Bridge on Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway using a continuous steel truss girder and flexible arch design. The researchers used a phased closure approach, first erecting the steel truss girder and then the flexible arch steel structure. They used slewing derrick cranes and operation platforms for construction. The key findings were that the closure of the complex steel girder structure posed a challenge, but by erecting the truss girder first and then the flexible arch, they were able to successfully complete the construction at the midspan of the main spans.
