Soil moisture is higher with straw mulching compared to no cover. 10 t/hm2 of straw mulching is best for soil moisture and crop growth. Maize yield and water use efficiency are highest with 10 t/hm2 of straw mulching. Straw mulching is a good technique for farming in the Songnen Plain region.
