The researchers studied the level of pollution in different parts of Poyang Lake using a special index. They found that the river channel area is the most polluted, followed by the transition water area and water detention area. The lake is most polluted during the wet season and less polluted during the dry season. Pollution is worse in the rivers flowing into the lake than in the lake itself.
