A new rice variety called Fanyuan A was created by breeding to have good aroma and resistance to rice blast disease. It was developed using a specific method involving crossbreeding and backcrossing. Fanyuan A has stable sterility, high combining ability, and a high rate of outcrossing. It was officially recognized in Fujian Province in 2013.
